Redwood Heights News

by Ed Rovera

The Redwood Heights Improvement Association proudly announces www.Redwood-Heights.org, the official RHIA web site. Hosted as a public service by SupportNet, an Oakland-based Internet firm, this site contains news, a resident conferencing system, an e-mail listserv, and a local events calendar. In addition, there are pages listing our local businesses, churches, schools, and recreational facilities. In the weeks that follow, we'll be adding more items of interest, including a real estate information center, the Redwood Heights Recreation Center's schedule of events, and an expanded listing of the youth-oriented services in our area. One of the key resources available from the RHIA site is our "Oakland Links" page. From here you can find other neighborhood organizations, information from the City of Oakland's web site, transit and commuter information, and local political commentary. As more City services come online and other local groups develop their Internet presence, watch this page closely; it will grow and grow rapidly. After spending a bit of time on our new site, tell us what you think via our "Feedback" facility. All postings to "Feedback" and "Talk to Us!" are monitored by our Board of Directors, so you can be assured that your comments will reach the people that need to know. You can also reach the RHIA Board at 482-3471 or by sending e-mail to RedwoodHts\@hotmail.com. Happy surfing! Landscaping Committee Focuses on Redwood Road Improvements By Catherine Joseph The Landscape Committee has begun improvement along Redwood Road/35th Avenue and Hwy. 13 where it crosses Redwood Road. Committee members have targeted 26 sites along Redwood Road between Mountain Boulevard and Wisconsin Street for improvement. The committee is working with CalTrans, the City of Oakland, and private property owners to prune overgrown vegetation, remove dead and diseased plants, landscape bare areas with low maintenance plants, repair broken sidewalks, and install trash cans at major bus stops.
