Boulevard Bites

by Toni Locke

In June I take a rest from community responsibilities in the Metro area. In the spirit of refreshment and renewal, I give this column over to poets from Jan Donnelly's second-grade class at Sequoia School, where I have the pleasure of tutoring in reading.

A Present

By Emmie Giang

The sun is shining like the earth

The night is bright like the sun

The moon is great like the world.

My world is bright like a animal

My world is a learning place like a teacher

My world is wonderful like a present.

New People on Earth

By Derek Lin

School is good, but it's hard too.

When I study fossils, I know we are new people here on earth.

When I read, I feel strong like the earth.

When I write, people can know my thoughts.

School is important to me

Because it makes me smart.

A Wish

By Patrick Lee

I wish I were a

Chameleon on a tree

Thinking about hiding

From a tiger.

A Fluffy Thing

By Logan Tuai

A fluffy thing is a pillow.

It is white like a piece of paper

And feels soft like

My mommy when she hugs me.

Love

By Rudy Rodriguez

I wish I was the earth

Spinning through the galaxy.

I would want the people living

On me to be nice to each other

And have love.

With love, nobody would fight each other.

Then I would be peaceful.
