### Gordon Laverty appeared in the very first issue of the Metro as the Leona Heights correspondent and is still writing the Leona Heights column after 20 years. An orchid to Gordon for 20 years of writing about Leona Heights and much more, and also to his wife Marge Laverty, a long-time Metro Garden columnist, for their years of dedication to the Metro and also as symbols for all the writers and photographers who have worked on the Metro.'

### Anne Fox's name appeared in the Metro for the first time in October 1989. Anne, a professional copyeditor, is still copyediting and Galley editing for the Metro after 20 years. She is regarded in Metro circles as a promotor of good writing, correct use of punctuation, proper syntax, and excellent editing. An orchid to Anne for herself and as a symbol of the people who have worked behind the scenes to produce the paper.

### Laurel Hardware had an ad in the very first issue and in almost every issue over the past 20 years. An orchid to Laurel Ace Hardware's David Vahlstrom for himself and his business and as a symbol of all the advertisers who support the Metro and the individual financial contributors who keep the Metro going.

### Toni Locke was managing editor of the Metro for 15 years and was involved with the Metro from the beginning. She retired from her volunteer position in 2006, and continues today as Editor Emeritus. Toni was more than editor, she was a community activist, promoting the revitalization of the community through the Metro and community action. An orchid to Toni for herself and as a symbol of the organizers, activists, readers, and other members of the community who are constantly seeking ways to make our piece of earth a little better.
